HelloAgain ("we", "our", "us", or "the Company") helps you stay meaningfully connected with the people you trust. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We collect only what is needed to operate the Service — we do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information — name, email address, password (stored only as a secure bcrypt hash), date of birth, profile photo, and optional bio.
- Circle & connections — the family members and friends you add, relationship labels, and per-member preferences (ringtones, care schedules).
- Check-ins & mood data — your daily check-ins, mood selections, and the status lines you choose to share with your circle.
- Messages, voice notes & calls — chat messages and voice notes you send. Voice and video calls are transmitted peer-to-peer (WebRTC); we store call metadata (who called whom, when, duration, missed/answered) but never record call audio or video.
- Memories — photos, stories, and captions you create in Memory Studio, including AI-enhanced versions you generate.
- Location details you provide — cities or neighborhoods you enter in your profile. We do not track your GPS location in the background.
- Device & notification tokens — push notification tokens (Expo / Firebase Cloud Messaging) so calls, check-in reminders, and support requests can reach your device.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Deliver core features: check-ins, messaging, voice/video calling, memories, and caring moments.
- Send the notifications you enable, such as incoming call alerts, check-in reminders, and "Need Someone to Talk" requests from your circle.
- Compute your private connection score and care suggestions.
- Keep the Service secure (authentication, rate limiting, abuse prevention).
3. AI Features
Some features (Memory Studio "Magic Edit", caring moment suggestions, and AI status lines) send the specific content you submit (for example, a photo you choose to enhance or a short prompt) to AI providers to generate the result. This content is used only to fulfil your request and is not used by us to train models. You are always in control of what you submit to AI features.
4. Sharing of Information
- With your circle — only the content you explicitly share (check-in status, memories, messages) and only with the audience you select.
- Service providers — infrastructure needed to run the Service: cloud hosting and database, push notification delivery, call-connectivity relay servers, and the AI providers described above.
- Legal requirements — where disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the safety of our users.
- We never sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
- You may permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile > Privacy & Data > Delete Account. Deletion audit logs are retained for 90 days for compliance purposes, then removed.
6. Security
- All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS / WSS).
- Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text.
- Authentication uses signed JSON Web Tokens (JWT).
- Calls are transmitted directly between devices using encrypted WebRTC (DTLS-SRTP).
7. Device Permissions
HelloAgain requests permissions only when you use a related feature, and every permission is optional: Camera (profile photos, memories, video calls), Microphone (voice notes, calls), Photo library (sharing memories), and Notifications (call alerts and reminders). You can change these anytime in your device settings.
8. Children's Privacy
HelloAgain is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Important Safety Notice
HelloAgain supports meaningful connection between trusted people. It is not an emergency monitoring service and cannot guarantee that someone is safe. Smart Hello Alerts notify only the trusted contacts you select — they do not contact emergency services.
10. Amendments to This Policy
The Company reserves the right, exercisable at its sole and absolute discretion, to amend, vary, supplement, restate, or replace this Privacy Policy, in whole or in part, at any time and without prior individual notice, save where such notice is mandated by applicable law. The operative version of this Privacy Policy shall at all times be the version published within the application or at the Company's designated location, as evidenced by the "Last updated" date appearing above. Your continued access to or use of the Service following the publication of any revised Privacy Policy shall constitute your conclusive acceptance thereof.
